It was thirty years ago today...

...that The Empire Strikes Back was released in theaters. It meant a whole lot to me and millions of youngsters. To celebrate, I'm kicking off Star Wars Week next week. Each day, I'll post something Star Wars related. I've even managed to include Star Wars in next Thursday's Forgotten Music Project.

So, tune in next week and join the discussion and celebration of George Lucas's Star Wars.

I was in a theater that day, along with my wife and kids. It was the movie I'd been waiting for all my life.

Saw it opening day as well. I can remember the drive, where I saw it, all of it. The Empire Strikes Back was probably the first movie I was ever over-the-top stoked to have come out. I may watch it tonight.

Even as a non-fan of the series, I enjoyed it more than any of the others I've seen and could see Leigh Brackett's hand in it. Would that she'd been able to write every draft of the script, and go on to more.

Guess you were in a perfect position to know about the publication of the original Star Wars novel. I should have checked that publication date myself since I have a copy of the book. Mine is the sixth printing, which shows a pic of Luke and Leia on a primarly gold cover. I've never seen the original cover.

>Star Wars week? Awesome. Can't wait.

I was three when Empire came out, but I think I saw it on a re-release in '81 or '82. I remember I was in Lake Tahoe when I saw it, at least. Great movie. Definitely my favorite of the series, as I know it is for many.
