Houston Texans Haiku: Week 1 vs. Colts

First drive, third quarter
got the monkey off our backs.
Can we keep it off?

Indianapolis Colts - 24
Houston Texans - 34

Can't say enough how much I was looking forward to Houston Texans football and this game. I know it's only one game, but boy! What a game!

And for their victory over the Colts, I say "Thank you!" I don't dislike the Colts per se, I just find them to be overrated and far too many football writers/commentators seem to have a bit of a mancrush on Peyton Manning.

You can count me in on the mancrush part. Peyton's presence on the Colts (plus Dungy) made it really difficult to hate the Colts (unlike, say, the Steelers back in the Oilers/Steelers years). Was rooting for him last February. But not yesterday.

I've got a soft spot for the Cardinals this season because I felt Derek Anderson was rather poorly treated by many of my fellow Browns fans. I was very pleased that he was able to "win" the starting QB position in Arizona, and I was happy to see the Cardinals beat the Rams yesterday. It took some of the sting out of the Browns loss to the Bucs.

Your boys looked good, Scott. At least in the highlights I saw. You look to have a gem in Foster.

I hope this win gives Coach Kubes some breathing room.

Nice Haiku. It summed up my thoughts as well.

I'm glad to see the Texans emerging as a possible playoff team. Their roster is full of talented players. This may be their year.
