I've been reading him since Godwulf Manuscript was first published and have stayed with him through every change of series character and wouldn't miss an outing.

I've also read his stand-alones and his westerns (also just saw Appaloosa in the theatre -- based on a Parker novel).

David Cranmer is right -- Tom Selleck in the role of Jesse Stone (another of Parker's creations) is excellent.

The books don't have to be read in order, but it does help as the characters and their relationships change and sometimes affect the plots.

I've just picked up Parker's latest, Rough Weatyher, and am putting all other reading aside to dive in.Paul Bishophttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02102723351945251883noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-440764593580848794.post-15772804520680345292008-10-24T19:09:00.000-05:002008-10-24T19:09:00.000-05:00I only recently discovered Spenser - book 21 was t...I only recently discovered Spenser - book 21 was the first I'd read and I've done no 11 and 12 since. I've got this debut book and it's next on my list. Interesting review which should enhance my reading of the book.Gary Dobbs/Jack Martinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10935686140719743351noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-440764593580848794.post-73412239386423252052008-10-24T13:00:00.000-05:002008-10-24T13:00:00.000-05:00Great post! One of my favorites. At fourteen I read Valediction by Parker and that became the bridge between The Hardy Boys of my youth and what I read today.(He was also very influential in my deciding to take Criminal Justice in college.) I just finished Hundred-Dollar Baby which I enjoyed. If you get a chance check out The Jesse Stone/Tom Selleck movies. They are quite good.David Cranmerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04749857752139212888noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-440764593580848794.post-22743166076000747452008-10-24T10:09:00.000-05:002008-10-24T10:09:00.000-05:00For a little more back story, check this post on t...For a little more back story, check this post on the (real?) 1st edition of the book:

http://riordansdesk.blogspot.com/2007/03/first-goldwulf.htmlMark Cogginshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14662234747419296715noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-440764593580848794.post-84181135788169761292008-10-24T06:33:00.000-05:002008-10-24T06:33:00.000-05:00I thought his first six books were truly amazing.I thought his first six books were truly amazing.pattinase (abbott)https://www.blogger.com/profile/02916037185235335846noreply@blogger.com
