Needle: A Magazine of Noir - Coming Soon!

For those of you who don't know, Steve Weddle has got it into his head to create an ink-on-paper noir magazine. It's called Needle, a metaphoric name that indicates the type of prose you'll see within the covers: sharp, hard, and edgy. John Hornor has designed the look of the mag and it's sharp as well. Naomi Johnson and I shared editing duties along with Steve.

For more information, head on over to the Needle Mag website. There's a photo of the first issue proof here. There's a Facebook page here.

All things considered, it's something I'm looking forward to having on my shelf. And I feel proud to have a part in its creation. Thanks to Steve for inviting me along for the ride.

I don't know how he managed this in record time.

David - It should be a good first issue.

Patti - Perhaps Steve doesn't sleep?

How's the distribution looking?

Scott, Thanks for the mention and for the help. Which kinda leads into Patti's point. The way something like this gets done is through the efforts of dedicated folks -- Scott and Naomi reading/editing and John working his tail off on the design. And, of course, the writers --Patti, Paul, and about a dozen others -- spending their time telling stories. And then Dan O'Shea offers to help proof. So the way this gets done is by a bunch of people working like hell on their parts.

Todd, Thanks for asking. Right now the mag will be printed through Lulu.com and filter its way to spots -- Amazon, probably, and maybe some independent shops.

The Web site is needlemag.com and you can order from there when it's ready.

Thanks again,
Steve
